Safety of our workers is the number one priority for CKD Mines. There is simply nothing more important than ensuring that the members of our team return safely to their homes and families each evening.
CKD Mines will comply with all Canadian underground mining safety standards and will follow best practices utilized by the industry in British Columbia and across the country. If developed, the Gething Mine will operate under a comprehensive provincial regulatory regime: namely, the Mines Act, the Health and Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia, WorkSafe BC and potentially additional legislation and regulation that falls under the mandate of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Natural Gas.
The underground mining technique introduced by CKD Mines is a mature and sophisticated technology, including monitoring, operating, communicating, ventilating, de-watering system, and the highly mechanized process will reduce the amount of coal dust and minimize the manual handling of coal. The entire system and equipment will promote underground workers’ health and safety.
