The Gething Mine project is currently in the preliminary/exploratory stage. Further progress and timelines will vary depending on when the project receives necessary government and regulatory approvals to proceed following consultation with First Nations and communities. Below is a very general outline of the expected timelines associated with the development of the Gething Mine project. First Nations consultation and community engagement will occur throughout the life of the project.
2008-Current:
First Nations consultation, baseline environmental studies, preliminary project planning, community outreach work.
Advanced exploration:
If a bulk sample permit is obtained from the provincial government, it is estimated that construction and extraction of the sample from the site will take approximately two years.
Environmental Assessment:
Assuming the sample confirms the quality of the coal deposit at the Gething property, the project will enter into an Environmental Assessment application with the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BCEAO). This process is expected to occur over approximately two years.
Construction would only begin on the full Gething Mine following approval from the BCEAO and securing necessary financing for the project based on market conditions at that time.
